"Oh, well i'm sorry for what happened. My men patrol the grounds a lot. These are difficult times. I've got the government breathing down my neck and then i've got Izobel's motely crew trying to kill me all the time," he said, picking up Syrena's glass of alcohol when she wasn't gonna drink it. "Are you still with them? Izobel and Ma--my...brother..."
Liam walked right up to Syrena and looked down at the little girl. "Don't be afraid of me little one. I'm not evil. Just trying to survive. After all, I was exiled by my own kind. My own brother left me for dead," he shrugged.

"No, I left when I woke up." Syrena didn't want to stay and talk to Liam. She had spent over three years hiding from him and his crew. "You had it coming, after killing Er--them." It still pained her to think of Erik. How she had betrayed him. She hated that he died mad at her. The little girl peeked out to the side of her, not looking straight at Liam, but enough so she could see him. Her eyes landed on the apple cider and she whispered something to her mom. Syrena picked up the apple cider and helped her daughter drink it.

"He hit you," he whispered, trying not to scare the little girl futher. "And it was an accident. I didn't mean to kill anyone. I didn't want that," he said, suddenly getting very quiet. He'd murdered the love of his life. "If you think I wanted to hurt her at all, then you're crazy." Liam walked back around his desk and sat down in his chair. "If you want to leave you'll have to be kept here until nightfall and then blindfolded. You could lead my enemies here. You probably would. Try not to play by the docks anymore."

"After what I did to him, I deserved it. He didn't deserve to be stabbed mul--" Syrena glanced at her daughter who was staring up at her and she stopped. She didn't want to talk about it in front of her, not when she repeated everything like a parrot. "I haven't talked to Izobel or Mason since that day, I don't know where they are. I don't want to get in the middle of your fued with them. I have been trying my hardest to keep my daughter away from her fath--away from that mess."

"You were knocked out. You had no idea what happened," he said, narrowing his eyes. "You think I stabbed him because he hit you? Nah. I stabbed him because....because I fuc--messed up." Liam tried to keep everything rated G, but talking about death automatically turned it to PG-13. "I know you don't want her hearing all this, but you have to know that it was all an accident....and completely my fault. I'm only angry because they left me when I needed them most. I blamed Erik for Elena but now I see that I caused her death."
Liam pulled out a folder and started to read over some paper work. "Like I said, you can't leave yet. I'll get you out of here as soon as possible. I'm not going to mess up again and get my men killed. You should stay in here if you want to keep your daughter safe. Just sit in those chairs and drink your cider."

Syrena sighed and sat down in one of the chairs in front of Liam. She was aggrivated, she wanted to go home, she didn't want to spend all afternoon in an office with Liam, he might start asking questions that she didn't want to answer. As her daughter drank the apple cider she looked around the office. He was doing well for himself, she couldn't deny that.
Her daughter tried to put the cup on the desk. "Elena, stop. Elena just give the cup to mommy." She took the cup and set it on the desk so it wouldn't tip.

Liam looked up from his paperwork and glared at Syrena when he heard the child's name. She chose the one name that made his heart ache and the guilt return. He stood up and used the phone to call his guards downstairs. "Come up here please. Thank you." He hung up and looked at little Elena. "You have to go now. It's not nightfall. Not even close. It's okay though. I'll make an exception for you and your....Elena."
Two men entered the room and waited by the door. "Boys, protect these two and take them back into town. Dont let anyone hurt them. Once they're home, return immediatly. Make sure no one follows you."

Syrena looked at how mad Liam was and rolled her eyes. She almost wanted to explain herself, but she didn't want Liam knowing anything about Elena. She was thrilled to be able to leave right away. "Don't look at me like that. I have my reasons for picking that name. As much as I would like to blame it all on you, I can't. That day was partially my fault and I have never let myself live it down. You think you are alone in your pain and suffering, but you aren't. Not even close." With that she picked up Elena and walked out with the guards.

Alek walked into the room after the girls filed out. "Alek, I want you to follow them. Find out where she lives and report back to me. Oh and Alek, make sure no one touches them. If you do, i'll cut off your hands and shove them down your throat," he said with a smile. "That's all."
Alek left and secretly followed the two guards, Syrena and Elena. Eventually the two guards left, but Alek kept following. He had to find out where they lived. Suddenly he was stopped by a burly looking fellow. "What do you think you're doing?" Mason asked, pushing Alek backwards. "You sick man? Following a lady and her daughter like that?"

Syrena held Elena closely as she walked through the dark streets, knowing full well what hid in the darkness. She had no clue Alek was following her as she made her way back to the motel. It wasn't until she heard voices behind her did she stop and turn. She was about to speak when she heard a familiar voice that she heard only once before. It was the same voice that told her what had happened to Elena and Erik years before.
"Mason?" She asked, squinting to try and see if it was really him.

Alek knew that his cover had been blown, so he turned around and ran off. Mason was strong, but he wasn't very fast. "Pathetic," he grumbled, throwing his hands in the air and watching the coward escape. Mason jogged over to Syrena and immediatly noticed the little girl in her arms. "Hey uh, I think that guy was following you. It might not be safe to stay in your....motel room? You can come back to our hideout if you want. You're a friend, right?" he smiled sweetly.

The decision was tough for Syrena. On one hand if she stayed in her motel room who knows what would happen. If that guy was following her he was most likely part of Liam's gang and she suddenly didn't feel safe. Who knew what Liam would have them do. As far as she knew, he would have her be kidnapped again, or worse. It wasn't such a good idea for her to go with Mason, though. If that guy was part of Liam's gang then he could report back to Liam. The last thing she wanted was for Liam to think she was part of Mason's gang and that she had lied. She had spent the past few years in hiding to avoid all of those issues. She didn't want to raise her daughter in the middle of a war between the mutants.
"Um..." She glanced back in the direction of her motel room, sighing as she admitted defeat. "Yeah, sure. That would be great," she said at last. She followed Mason, watching her surroundings, afraid that Liam's gang were still watching her.

"Ya know, come to think of it, I recognize that guy. Alek, second in command over on the dark side," he chuckled. Mason didn't usually joke around about his brother, but he was happy to see Syrena after so long. "Izobel will like to see you. I don't think she's angry about the whole Elena thing. I'm not. I know it was a big mistake on your part."
Mason led her to a shed that was really the entrance to a secret tunnel. The tunnel ran right to the pantry in the kitchen of Izobel's mansion. "We got a spell or something on this house, but its still safer to enter through the secret passage. More fun too," he chuckled. "IZOBEL! WE GOT COMPANY!"

Syrena couldn't help but let out a small laugh. Mason was making her feel safer the longer she was with him. Elena looked up when she heard her name and glanced at Mason. He was huge, at least to her, but he had a childish look about him that made her not afraid.
"Who is it Mas--" Izobel stopped short when she entered the kitchen to see Mason standing along side Syrena. "Syrena, wow, haven't seen you since--well you know." She was in utter shock at seeing her there.
"Yeah I've been trying to stay under the radar, worked great until today when a few of Liam's men took me."
"Wait, you were brought to Liam's? Are you okay?" Izobel had never heard of someone going into Liam's and coming out without a scratch on them. When Syrena nodded she raised an eyebrow. She pulled out her phone and pressed 4 on her speed dial. "Annabelle, can you come to the kitchen? I need a favor." When she hung up she glanced at Mason. "Were you followed at any point Mason?" She needed to know whether Syrena had compromised their hideout.

"Syrena was being followed, but I scared the guy off. After that, no one followed us here. I'm sure Alek's running back to the dark lord with his tail between his legs." Mason didn't like to use Liam's name because that monster who kills for sport was not his brother. "We're safe Izobel, don't worry. I mean, as long as Syrena here isn't a spy. I don't think she is though."
"So, you found her house, Alek?" Liam asked, not bothering to raise his head while he checked some paperwork. When Alek didn't say anything, Liam raised his head and narrowed his eyes. "What happened Alek? Is she safe? What have you done to her?" Every object in the room started to shake and things started to fall off the walls. "Nothing sir! It was your brother...he was gonna fight me, so I ran."
