Attack

[Elena]

It had been two weeks since Ryder has started to torture Izobel. They didn't need to give her the serum because Ryder kept her too weak from the torture sessions for her to even lift up a stapler. She was skinnier than usual, having been starved a little. Her body was covered in cuts and bruises as well as a few burn marks. She had been shocked so much that even a week after they stopped it her body would still shake as if she was.

Not once did she let herself think of where her friends were. They had searched her home once, but when it came up empty they tried looking else where. It was a miracle she hadn't been driven insane from all of the torture, it was more than most humans would bear.

Then one day she slipped. The image of the hidden room popped into her mind for a few seconds and Ryder saw. She tried to play it off like she was delusional, but they didn't buy it. The general ordered their men to rush in there unannounced and to check everywhere including those rooms. He gave the order to kill any mutant that put up a fight and anyone else that stood in their way. Then he shot Izobel five times and had her dumped in the woods.

The men rushed into Izobel's home and immediately shot the butler. They split up to cover the whole house. Skylar looked up as one entered the living room where she was with Jadyn and Owen. Skylar placed her hand on the tv to soak up some energy and threw an energy ball at the guards. She hit down a guard before they opened fire. Jadyn pushed Owen and her behind the couch. "How did they find us?!"

A few men entered Liam's room where he and Elena were talking. Elena stood up and using her powers stole a gun from one of the men. Another guard shot at Elena, hitting her in the stomach. She took a few steps back and held her stomach before firing back, killing both men. "Liam, lets get out of here!"

[Liam/Mason]

"They must have Izobel! She's been missing for so long!" he shouted, ducking his head to avoid gun fire. He sped around the couch, and at the speed of light, knocked over all the guards. They recovered quickly, but Owen managed to smash a lamp over one of their heads. "Hey guys, look over here!" He said, jumping up and down to create a distraction. This moment would give Skylar and Jadyn a chance to run or make a move.

Liam didn't bother with the rest of the house guests, because Elena was shot and needed his immediate attention. He picked her up and jumped out the window, landing lightly on his feet. Having stolen Owen's speed, Liam was practically invisible as he ran away from the property. "Where do we go now? Hang in there Elena," he growled, stopping in an alley beside a downtown club. He took advantage of the shadows and set Elena down to check her wound. "I don't know what to do," he admitted, his eyes filled with fear.

Mason had been out of the house, at the gym, when the attack occured. By the time he got back, the guards were either dead or gone. "What the hell happened here?!?"

[Elena]

Izobel had managed to use her powers to pull every bullet out of her body. She passed out for a few hours, but when she awoke she managed to get to her feet and stumbled through the woods. She had to get to her house and warn them before the guards came. Over a mile she walked, one hand clutching her stomach, and another holding onto trees for support.

When all was quiet Jadyn stood up and looked over at Owen and Mason. "They found us out." She looked over to see where Skylar had gone, not even realizing that she had been hit by a bullet in her upper arm. She noticed a pair of feet sticking out from behind the chair on the other side of the room. Slowly she made her way over to it and noticed it was Skylar. Skylar was laying there, dead, with a bullet in her forehead. "Oh my god, Skye!" She said as she placed a hand over her mouth.

Elena winced as she removed the bullet and looked down at it. "Do you think we should go back to the house? The others may be hurt." She was too far away to read their minds to see where they were, plus she was in too much pain to concentrate.

[Liam/Mason]

Owen and Mason joined Jadyn and looked down upon their friend's dead body. Owen wrapped his arms around Jadyn and pulled her to his chest. "Damn," Mason whispered, rubbing his eyes and shaking his head. "Lets sit down Jadyn," Owen said softly, gently leading her away from the body, toward the next room. "Mason, you should go find your brother and Elena."

Mason hadn't even realized that his brother wasn't around. He searched the entire mansion and found nothing. "Not again," he sighed in frustration, hitting one of the statues outside and turning the entire thing into dust.

"What if those men are still there?" After a few moments of thought, Liam agreed to go back to the house to check on the others. When they arrived, the house seemed empty. Carrying Elena, Liam found the others in one of the sitting rooms. He set her down next to Owen and Jadyn. "Why's Jadyn so upset?" Mason passed by his brother and told him that Skylar had been killed. "Her body's in the other room."

[Elena]

Elena used her power to bring a towel into the room which she pressed to her stomach. The pain made her want to vomit, but she tried to breathe slowly to calm herself. "What do we do now? We can't stay here. They'll come back."

"Where do we even go? This was the only place we had," added Jadyn.

"Guys, I can hear Izobel," said Elena. Izobel's thoughts were almost screaming in her head. She couldn't tone them down because with the pain she couldn't concentrate on them enough. "She's in the forest about a half mile in."

Jadyn growled. "Why is she coming back here?! Hasn't she done enough damage? For all we know she's bringing backup!"

[Liam/Mason]

"I'll go get her," Mason volunteered quickly, almost running out of the room to go find Izobel. Liam sat down beside Elena and pressed the towel to her stomach to keep pressure on, adn to allow her to concentrate on breathing. "Izobel had been captured for a long time Jadyn. With Ryder at the asylum, she only had to slip up once, and he'd read her thoughts. You can't blame her for this. We can't turn on each other, not when we have a mutual enemy," Liam added.

Owen rubbed Jadyn's back to try and calm her down. "We need to find another base. One that's hidden. We can either build one in nature, or choose a place here in town. Surely someone here is sympathetic to our cause." Liam shook his head and pointed out that they couldn't trust any of the humans in the area. "They'll turn us in to make a quick buck."

Mason wasn't good at tracking, so it took him a little while to find poor Izobel. When he did find her, he thought he was dreaming. No, this is a nightmare. His Izobel looked like a corpse. "What did they do to you?" he said, kneeling down and pulling her into his arms. "You need a hospital."

[Elena]

"She should've prevented them from reading her mind. If it had been me I would've killed myself before they had a chance to get any information out of me. She had a choice." Jadyn stood up and walked out of the room, pissed off. She felt that Izobel could've prevented the whole thing if she really wanted to.

Elena read through Mason's mind and saw what Izobel looked like. "Damn, she's messed up. She's going to need medical attention. What hospital would even take us though? Liam, do you still talk to Erik? I know he's kind of evil but he may know a place that mutants run." She really hated to have to try to ask Erik for a favor, especially since he got Liam to kill humans, but they needed medical help.

Izobel collapsed into Mason's arms. "I'm s-so glad to-to see you. Ryder...h-he found out about me...I tr-tried to keep you guys a s-secret...." She tried to make full sentences, but she was so weak she was having trouble seeing what was real and what was another nightmare.

[Liam/Mason]

Liam was almost speechless when Elena asked if Erik would be willing to help them. "We can't bring him into this! You hate him! You yelled at me for joining him. He can't do anything for us that we can't do ourselves!" Of course, Erik had many connections. He even had a makeshift medical center in his gang's hideout.

Mason smiled sadly at Izobel and picked her up gently. "I missed you, beautiful." Mason carried her back to the house, but layed her down on her own bed in her own room, instead of the sitting area. "Do you have any med kits around here Izobel? Nevermind, i'll find it. Don't speak. Save your strength and do not follow the light!"

[Elena]

"Do you happen to know a hospital that would treat mutants? We don't have many options, Liam" Elena did hate Erik, but she didn't want Izobel to die because of her hatred. "Izobel needs help immediately. Do you really want to have to tell your brother that there may have been some way to save her if she dies? I'm not saying we have to...ow...trust Erik or anything, just use him."

Izobel felt very cold, even ontop of the warm covers. She had missed her bed, having had to sleep on the hard floor in a cell, they didn't even give her a bed. The pain was starting to take over now that she didn't have to worry about getting to the others. She didn't know that the army guys already invaded the home and that her butler, one of her oldest friends, was dead.

[Liam/Mason]

Liam pulled out his cellphone and wandered around the room, waiting for Erik to answer his call. "Hey, this is Liam. No I don't want to join your crew again--no, hey! Don't talk that way about her," he said, whispering the last part. Erik knew that it had been a woman's doing when Liam never returned to the gang. "We've been attacked and I was wondering if you could help us. Some girl's are injured. I'm sure they'd be very grateful if you helped them. I'd be very grateful. Sure....ya...okay thanks."

Liam pocketed his phone and turned back to Elena. "He said we can come to his hideout at the docks. He'll take care of us." Erik had also mentioned to Liam that a favor would have to be returned. "Do you need me to carry you? The docks are quite a distance."

Mason checked in with Liam and the others and learned where they were going. He returned to Izobel and picked her up without warning. "We're doing to the docks, my love. Some mutants have a hideout there. You're safe."

[Elena]

"If you don't mind, and thanks. Erik didn't want anything in return?" Elena was a little surprised that he wouldn't. She figured she would have to rob a bank or something in return for the favor and she was willing to rob a bank or do anything really, as long as it didn't kill any innocent humans.

Izobel winced and gripped onto Mason when he picked her up, though her grip wasn't that strong. "What about everyone else? The guards will come. Can't let the guards come..." Her voice was barely audible and she was starting to slip back into unconsciousness.

[Liam/Mason]

"Nothing from you," he chuckled, picking her up bridal style and carrying her out of the house. "If he wants something from you, he'll have to go through me." Liam stopped by the main entrance and waited for everyone else to catch up.

"The guards already came, baby. They already attacked us. Elena was injured and Skylar was...killed. I was away from the house when they came. I should've been there fighting." Mason carried her to the main entrance and stood with Liam and Elena, while Owen convinced Jadyn to follow them. "You're right about Izobel, cuz. She'll pay for turning us in," Owen whispered to her.

"Everyone ready? Lets go," Liam said, leading the group. He knew where Erik's base was, because he'd been in the gang. They used the outskirts of town to travel, and stayed out of the light. Finally, they arrived and Liam kicked on the door because his hands were full. "It's Liam, Erik said we could come." The doors opened after a moment, and everyone was let inside.

[Elena]

Elena still wondered what Erik said. She couldn't even read Liam's mind because he was purposely thinking of other things. He probably knew she would try to snoop. She just figured she would keep a close eye on him throughout their stay there. When they arrived she looked around the place. It was heavily guarded, she could tell by reading their minds. It was like a war zone.

Jadyn was glad Owen agreed with her. "If she couldn't keep her powers under control around them she shouldn't have been around them. We'll get her before she recovers, otherwise she'll get the others. And Mason would be a problem."

[Liam/Mason]

"Welcome everyone," Erik said, appearing out of thin air, a grin on his face. "Your injuries are quite serious. Liam did not exaggerate. Quickly, into the med center." Liam carried Elena in, but she was quickly taken by their 'medics' and placed on a bed. Izobel was placed in the bed next to her. They tried to shoo Mason and Liam out of the room, but they were having no part of that.

"Liam, I need to have a word with you. Your brother can stay and watch over the girls," Erik offered. Liam reluctantly agreed and followed Erik into his main office. "So what happened exactly?" Liam explained how the asylum had captured Izobel and that she finally cracked under the pressure, revealing their location. "We were ambushed. Skylar, one of our girls, was killed."

Owen stood with Jadyn off to the side, and observed the gangs operation. "Look at these guys. They have armor, weapons, med supplies. Everything! They know what they're doing. They're organized. The government wouldn't even dare try to cross these guys. Perhaps we should consider joining them after we deal with the traitor."

[Elena]

Luckily, the mutants they had as their medics had some amazing powers. One could heal injuries quickly and the other had x-ray vision so they could see inside the person. The medic first healed Elena in a few minutes, not even a scar. Izobel however had a lot of major damage, something the medic never tried to heal before. She was able to heal Izobel enough that she wasn't endanger of dying, but she wore herself out before she could heal her fully. She wrapped up the leftover wounds, making Mason turn around while she undressed Izobel from her destroyed clothes and put her into new ones.

"She should be fine. I healed her enough. Give her a week or so and she'll be back on her feet." The girl didn't like draining her powers so she usually healed people to the point where they would be okay and wouldn't take so long to recover.

"That's a good idea. From what I heard, they want to take down the institute too and they hate the humans. They may even help us kill her if we bribe them enough." Jadyn wasn't sure about that though because Liam had been a part of their group. That may prove tricky.
