A Traitor in Our Midst

[Elijah]

"Did you really think that you could get away with it? Did you think that I wouldn't find out, hunt you down, and destroy you?"

"Jimmy, please let me explain!" Wes whispered. "Why would I join the rebellion when I know you're going to win in the end? They've accepted me, because of Avery. Tell Claire that she's given birth and the baby is well. I can slowly eliminate every threat in the rebellion. I'll weaken their structure and then i'll sneak the gang in. They won't even see it coming!"

"I like the way you think," Jimmy smirked, patting Wes on the back. "I knew you wouldn't betray me. We've been friends for too long. Keep their trust, but give us any information we'll need. I'll give you two months and then we strike. Their hideout will be burned to the ground. Women and children will be slaves and all men will be killed. I like that idea," he grinned. "Good job my friend. I may just promote you when this is all over." With that, Jimmy left.

Wes took some time to think about what he was doing. Avery would hate him. I'll convince Jimmy to let Avery by my girlfriend in the new order. She won't be a slave and she'll live a priveledged life. How can she hate me then?

"What are you doing here?" Hunter asked suspiciously, suddenly appearing beside Wes. Wes was startled and extremely nervous, but he tried not to show it. "Why does it smell like Jimmy? His stench is all over this area...it's on you too," Hunter hissed, narrowing his eyes.

"I won't lie to you Hunter...Jimmy was here. He wanted me to join him again. He became violent when I refused him. I managed to defend myself and send him running."

"I highly doubt that. I'd advise you to rethink any plans you might have with Jimmy. I'm not your friend...I will kill you."

"Don't be ridiculous," Wes grumbled, brushing off his shoulder. "I'm going back to the hideout." Wes almost ran back to the hideout, needing some distance from Hunter. He's observant. I haven't even done anything and he's already suspicious. I'll have to get rid of him first. Once inside, he began the hunt for Avery. "Avery?"

[Kendra // Shane // Lilith]

"She went out with some people from the crew to get food. We're running low and we can only go in daylight. Do you need something?" Dakota asked as she rocked Kaden. She loved babies and would take him whenever she got a chance, which wasn't much with Avery and Wesley around. She studied Wesley, since she looked like he had just ran for a little while.

Jadyn was finishing the last touches on the walkway to the other warehouse. It had taken a lot of work but with Hunter's help they got it done much more quickly. They needed it because within the last week, they went up fifty more people, many women and children who had escaped from Jimmy.

[Elijah]

"No, I was just wondering where she was," he smiled, stroking Kaden's head gently. "When she comes back, could you just tell her i'm taking a nap in the back?" Wes didn't stick around long. He plopped down on his cot and closed his eyes.

Hunter entered the hideout only a few minutes later. He'd stayed behind to sniff out the 'crime scene,' as he called it. Walking past Dakota, he rubbed her shoulder and continued on to find Jadyn. She was finishing the walkway to the next building. "Jadyn," he said softly, "I need to talk to you..."

[Kendra // Shane // Lilith]

Jadyn finished up drilling in the last piece before she turned to Hunter. "I finished! We can finally move the beds to the downstairs so we have more space. This warehouse will be used for our fighting." She wiped off her hands and actually took some time to look at him. Something wasn't right. "What's wrong?" She asked, fearing the worst.

[Elijah]

"That's great," he said cheerfully, trying his best to give her a real smile. "I'm proud of you." Hunter pulled her to the side, letting some of the workers pass by. "I was out earlier and I caught the scent of Jimmy. It was mixed in with Wesley's. When I confronted him, he was alone at the docks. He said he'd been in a little fight with Jimmy and that's why his scent was all over the area. He said that Jimmy wanted him back, but he'd refused. I don't trust him," he said seriously. "I think you should kick him out. Whether he actually is a spy or not is irrelevant. He's putting all of us in danger. If you don't kick him out, i'll kill him!"

[Kendra // Shane // Lilith]

"Were you able to hear anything they were saying?" Jadyn's expression had become serious withing seconds. She wasn't going to have any of them put in danger, especially by someone who was inside their sanctuary. She was going to have someone track him from now on. Every move he made would be watched.

[Elijah]

"Well, no, but that doesn't mean he's not a traitor. I understand that i'm making serious accusations, but I truly believe that he's a spy. He didn't look beat up and there's no way he made it out of a fight with Jimmy without any injuries. Not a scratch on him! What's worse is that if he is a spy, he's stringing Avery along."

[Kendra // Shane // Lilith]

Jadyn nodded. "If he got in a fight with Jimmy then he would've have made it out with no injuries. Especially since Jimmy would have brought along company to help persuade him. I think you're right. Tail him for the next day or two and you find anything suspisious, kill him. I will not take any risks. If he's a spy then the only thing to do is rip him to shreds. I'll warn Avery when she gets back. No matter how much she may like Wesley, she'll do whatever she needs to keep her baby safe."

[Elijah]

"Of course Captain," he smirked, leaning in and pressing his lips against hers. "I kinda hope he is a spy. Ever since I became a werewolf i've had this....this animal just waiting to burst out. I think ripping him apart will make me feel better."

"Claire!" Jimmy yelled, entering his own hideout. "GUESS WHO HAD A BABY!"

[Kendra // Shane // Lilith]

Jadyn smiled weakly. "I hope he's not, just for Avery's sake. Her last friend turned out to be using her. And if he's a spy, that makes it a whole lot worse for our sake. He could've told Jimmy and the others all about our fighting tactics and our schedule, not to mention our security. He could cut us off from food and any other things we desperately need. He can destroy us."

The thought made her smile fade. What if he was a spy? How much did he spill to Jimmy? They could all be doomed because of him. Part of her just wanted Hunter to kill him off now. She wanted no chance of the people here getting captured or killed. "I don't think we can chance him walking around anymore. I think we may have to cut him from meetings, training, food and medicine trips. Everything. We can't afford to lose this."

Claire skipped into the room with a smile on her face. "Avery had the baby?! Amazing! And how do you know?" She asked, curiously.

[Elijah]

"Whatever you say," Hunter said softly, stroking her face. He could see how stressed Jadyn was becoming. She was leading the entire rebellion single-handedly. Sure, Hunter helped out, as did a lot of other people, but Jadyn was the one that carried all of the burdens. She took care of everyone and kept them out of Jimmy's hands. "Just don't worry about this, alright? I shouldn't have told you," he chuckled. "I'll take care of this...problem."

"Wesley told me. Did I mention, he's still on our side? He's a spy, living in the rebels' base! It's brilliant!"

[Kendra // Shane // Lilith]

"No, I'm glad you told me. I could've told him something really important and everything could've screwed up. We have to tell Dakota too. I don't want him around Kaden either. Back in 2010 Claire wanted the baby. Nothing is stopping me from believing she would want it now." Jadyn had to admit that being in Hunter's arms relaxed her some. It was nice having him, just like old times, except Hunter was a new werewolf.

"Excellent. I knew he wouldn't betray us. He's smart enough to know who will win in the end. Did he tell you anymore useful information?" Claire asked. She wanted to know everything that was going on. And she wanted the baby.

[Elijah]

Hunter brushed his lips against hers and planted soft kisses on her forehead and jaw. "Why don't I just kill him then?" he whispered. "If we let him live any longer, we risk Jimmy breaking into our hideout. Avery may like Wesley, but she'd understand why we had to kill him if she heard the truth. Just let me kill him now," he begged, sucking on her neck.

"He didn't tell me anything else. He seemed jumpy. I'm proud of him though. He's surrounded by people who would torture him to death if they found out what he was doing. I'm sure Wes will bring the baby to us in the end."

[Kendra // Shane // Lilith]

"Because..." Jadyn began, slowly losing her train of thought as he kissed her. "There may be a slight chance he's innocent. I don't want to kill him before we find out the truth. I just hope by then it's not too late."

"When will you see him again? Or does he not want to risk it?"

[Elijah]

"Well," he mumbled, slipping his hand underneath her shirt, "what if I....accidentally killed him? Would you be angry with me? Would I be exiled or...punished?" he asked, in a low, husky voice.

"Believe me, i'll see him again. The boy better keep me posted. Until then, we'll begin training our army. I need a few teams. One to attack from the front, one for the rear and one for whatever secret tunnels they may have. I want my men to be ruthless. Kill everyone except for the women. Women are always useful for something," he grinned evily.
