Ewan shook his head back in forth until it finally sunk in. "I can't believe I didnt see it.....Kris you're right. What am I suppose to do? If I dont protect her father, he could get killed and if I dont protect Alex, they'll take her, torture her and try to turn her!" he growled. Ewan knew Requiem's intentions. He wanted Alex to be his mate. He was just using the other two. He wanted a large coven to boss around. Ewan hadnt even noticed Alex go outside. Reality was finally sinking in and the world was coming down on them from all sides. "Fu--I mean, dang. What are we gonna do?"

Laurell smiled at Alex as she walked through the door her eyes shining hungrily "Well hello Alex" she drawled softly,,, even though her head screamed at her to run. she stood calmly and stared at the slayer "Now no fighting slayer its disrespectful" she hissed her fangs showing slightly, she glanced into the church and saw Ewan sitting with the slayers father and the death girl. "Hmmm i dont think much of the company your keeping with lately slayer" she growled softly "Not much in the way of protection" she finished and with a small spiteful laugh laurell misted and disappeared from sight, smoke slipping silently into the chruch grounds

Alex growled and cursed Laurell under her breath. She walked out onto the grounds and over to the only open grave. They would put Hunter's coffin in there in a little bit. To be honest she didn't want to be there for that, but she would for Ewan. Seeing the coffin would make it final. It would make her fear that her and Ewan weren't going to make it. She sat by the grave and stared at the gravestone.
"For now you stay with Alex. I'll stay with her father and if I sense any danger then I'll teleport him somewhere safe. I'll try to find someone who will be better protection for him. We'll keep both of them safe. As for you, make sure you look out for yourself too. Without you Alex will be done for. I can only protect so much." Kris wanted to stress the last thing so Ewan wouldn't do anything stupid to get himself hurt or killed. "You mean a lot to me Ewan, more then you know. Don't do anything stupid, please."

Ewan smiled sweetly and gave Kris another hug. "THank you, you've done so much for us. You've done so much for me....you're a true friend and I apologize for the way I use to treat you." Just then, Ewan caught Laurell scent. He looked around frantically and noticed that Alex had left the walls of the church. "Hold on Kris, I gotta go find her. Some protector I am...." he mumbled. Ewan rushed outside, but sighed with relief when he saw Alex over by Hunter's grave. He silently walked up and placed a comforting hand on her shoulder. "You dont have to stay if you dont want to. It's sucks watching a good friend go. Im sorry you've been brought into this. We have some....things we have to talk about later. But before we do, why did I cross over Laurell's scent, mixed with yours?"

Laurell m isted herself closer to Hunters graveside and wrapped her cloak tigher round her as she stood behind the tomb, she could see Ewan and the slayer standing close to each other, she bit her lip as she remained still within her own darkness, she knew no human could see her but ewan... well he might be able to sense her. 'let him try to find me though' she though to herself as she watched the funeral party

Alex shook her head as Ewan spoke. "It's nothing, Laurell was on the church steps, listening to what was going on inside, she went before I had a chance to do anything. I can't understand how Hunter could believe she was good. Next time I see her, I'm going to make sure I don't miss." She was of course talking about killing Laurell. She was sick of loosing loved ones to heartless creatures. She hated the pain that came with it, knowing that if she was better at her job, none of it would have happened.

"Not today Alex.....Hunter wouldnt want our war to continue on the day of his funeral. I already talked to her anyway. We wont touch them, they wont touch us. Of course, if one of them were to....slip up, we could strike. I cant get rid of the feeling. The urge to kill them all. Gut them. Hurt them, like they've hurt me." Ewan held her hand in his and stared down into the empty grave. "I have a feeling, this is gonna be a lot harder than it looks...." he whispered.

Laurell moved silently closer to the mourners she kept the shadows close to her covering herself effectivly from all eyes, she just needed to get close eniugh to hear what was being said, she had already got an idea that Ewan was feeling divided trying to protect not only Alex now but her father as well. laurell gaze stole over to where the slayers father sat, he looked like someone had done him over good 'suppose i'll get blamed for that as well' laurell thought to herself with a small hiss, everything that went wrong lately was blamed on her by Ewan. Right now she wanted so m uch to destroy him... but she couldnt... she had given her promise and thats how it would remain.... well until he pushed her to far. Over head the sun broke through the clouds and Laurell smiled at its warmth

Alex stood up and turned to Ewan, agitation on her face. "Ewan, stop with these deals. Can't you see that they're vampires, they don't give a crap about keeping deals! Hunter trusted them and look where it got him. I'm through with letting Laurell slide. Next time I see her, I will kill her and any damn vampire that gets in my way." Her words were harsh, but they were true. "I'm not going to stand around and wait for another person I care about to die."

"Your dad's gonna be fine......they wont touch him. You can't attack them right now. If not for your dad, do it for me and Hunter. This isn't the time nor the place. We're on holy ground. The graveyard of a church. I mean, if they wouldnt be able to kill us here. This is our turf. How about this? If they show up, ill take care of them. You.....must.....relax......be calm." He grabbed her upper arms and pulled her close. He looked down and gazed into her eyes. "Calm," he repeated softly. As soon as Alex had control of her emotions, he was gonna go look for Laurell. He was fairly confident that it wouldnt be a problem. He turned his head in the direction of her scent and glared.

Laurell heard Alex's outburst and half smiled ' see laurellgirl your always in the wrong whether ya did anythig or not' she scolded herself. with a small shake of her head she watched the Slayer rant at Ewan about letting her kill the vampires...'good luck on that hunny if the ones before you couldnt get me then i doubt you will' she thught to herself as she moved closer to the open grave, she wanted to be close enough to drop the rose for Hunter so that no one would see it. Looking over her shoulder she noticed ewan glaring at her and in her shock that he had honed in on her she almost dropped her cloak of shadows the darkness surrounding her wobbled then steadied and laurell gritted her teeth hopig no one noticed

"I don't plan on seeing her today. I just mean that when I do, I'm going to finish what I should've a long time ago. It's not just my dad I'm worried about. I constantly fear that you're going to be next. I'm sorry," She paused, shaking her head slightly. "I don't mean to snap at you. Just please don't listen to any of Laurell's lies. I don't want you to end up like Hunter." Towards the end her voice grew soft, with a hint of fear in it.

Ewan kissed her cheek and smiled. "Why dont you go inside with your father? You'll be safe and I can go finish some business. Or....you could come with me. I care about you, but im sure if you knew that I was going to fight one of the vamps, you'd want to come alone." Ewan knew that he couldnt keep pretending that he was all powerful. He needed Alex's help. "I know where she is. I think that maybe, I should see her alone. You can go inside and keep a look out. I have a feeling, its going to be more than a simple talk....." Ewan was beginning to think that Hunter was blind and foolish. He loved his dad, but he trusted too much.
Without another word, he let go of Alex and followed Laurell's scent. It kept getting stronger and stronger with every step Ewan took. Finally he'd reached the spot. "I saw your little cloak mishap. No need to hide. Perhaps we should go somewhere more secluded....."

laurell stiffened when she saw Ewan approaching her, she hoped he would walk on by but no such luck, she listened to his request "ok but i wasnt doing anything" she said softly moving away from the gravesite and through the trees, she checked to ensure that no one else was following before she threw the cloak of shadows from her shoulders. Standing proud she turned to Ewan "I promised you wasnt doing anything ... i just want to pay my last respects to a great man" she spoke her voice not moving the air round her, "BVut it seems i can only do that when his grave is empty" she snapped.

Alex watched Ewan run off and was about to go after him when her father and Kris walked out. "Where did Ewan go?" Kris asked. She had a look of worry on her face. Vampires would be able to do something outside. She needed to get Alex inside before Requiem or Sam showed up.
"He went after Laurell I think." Alex said softly.
"Maybe we should go inside--"
"No! I want to be able to see him once he comes back." That wasn't really a smart move on Alex's part. There was only so much Kris could do to protect her, expecially if Sam or Requiem came back. If both of them came, they were done for.
