Alex laughed and started to walk down the path that she had taken for a couple of weeks. "You're starting to sound like a puppy. I hope you don't mind Ryan, he's just trying to look out for me. He's heard a lot of stories about slayers dieing and occasionally the watcher dies. This is his first assignment so it's all new for him. I mean it is my first time, but there's something about you. It's like I can sense the good in you." She admitted, looking around for any rustling bushes or unusual sights.
Ryan slowly put his gun in his back pocket, as a sign of willingness to trust them. He would take Alex's advice and trust them until they proved otherwise. "Alex told me that you have been here for years and that you have tried to help a couple of slayers. If so then you should understand why I'm being so uptight. She's fifteen, I don't want her to end up like the others."

Ewan followed Alex and tried to keep a look out for anything suspicious. "I dont mind. He acts like your big brother. Kinda funny actually. I think its nice of him to care so much about you. I barely know you and im sure I care just as much." He fell silent, thinking that what he'd said was too much. "So, you just walk around town looking for evil creatures? You arent scared about this at all? Nervous maybe? I mean, your job is even more important than mine and you look so....nevermind." He was gonna say delicate, young and maybe some other words. But of course he was getting carried away.
Hunter stood a few feet away, not wanting to get any closer to this stranger. "I understand why you're so protective. I should feel the same way about Ewan but I cant bring myself to. Its all a job to me. Once he knows what hes doing, im leaving. If things get too rough, you should take that girl and get out of town. Im sure they'll find another slayer, somehow. Dont risk losing her."

"So weak? Young? Fragile? Yeah I look all those things but I have strength I've never even dreamt of having, and Ryan is a great teacher. But yeah I'm scared. I could die at any second and I have no choice but to do this. The first week after Ryan told me what I was, I freaked out. I tried to refuse to be the slayer. But wherever I went at night, I would run into vamps. I managed to get out because of Ryan, he had been keeping tabs on me. Even with him protecting me, I feel vulnerable, frightened." Alex stopped walking when she said this and smiled weakly at Ewan.
"But, I have a weapon that other people don't. I should use the weapon to help the less fortunate." She started to walk again, and heard a rustling in the bushes. She stopped and pulled out a sharp wooden steak only to find out it was a bunny.
Ryan smiled weakly. "Unfortunately, that's not how it works. A slayer is born when another dies, or gets old. If that were't the case I would take her away right now. But she's in it for a while. That's why I need to trust her judgement. If she says that Ewan kid is good then I'll let him help. May I ask why you are leaving and making him fight?"

Ewan was fighting hard not to wrap his arms around her and comfort her. 'Stop it! Youve known her for like 45 minutes total. Just...stop. Give her the space she needs,' he thought. He was about to ask her what her weapon was when they heard something in the bushes. He crouched low, ready to lunge at anything and attack. Of course, it was only a little bunny rabbit. "Hmm, ok then, no danger here unless thats an evil rabbit who likes to eat slayers," he said jokingly. He stood up straight again and couldnt help but gaze at the young girl.
Hunter obviously didnt want to talk about his past and his reasons for leaving. Everyone was making him sound like a selfish jerk, which he could be. "Its really none of your business. Ive been here quite enough and ive had my fair share of trouble. Ive lost many and I just dont want to do this anymore. Its time for a new hybrid and Ewan fits that description. "

Alex laughed. "Oh yes that is really a demon called the bunny of death! It likes to eat slayers, and werewolves," She replied slyly. She heard another rustling in the bushes and figured it was another bunny but then out jumped a vampire. It was a guy, not much older than Ewan, and was wearing a college basketball jersey. When he spotted Alex and Ewan he grinned evily.
Alex ran over to him, steak hand pulled back, ready to strike. As she went for the blow, the vampire blocked it. She punched it in the face and dodge one of his swings. She punched him in the stomach, making him double over in pain. She was about to go for the kill, when the vampire rammed hard into her, making her fly back and hit a tree.

Ewan was a little shocked. It had all happened so fast. He grabbed the vampire from the back and threw him as far away as he could manage. He just needed to give alex some time to recover and some time for him to transform. Almost immediatly after, Ewan had started the changing process. He took off his new shirt and his shoes. He definetly didnt have enough money to keep buying more clothes. Within a few moments, and after a lot of screaming and moaning in pain, he was a full werewolf. A dark reddish brownish werewolf. He stood in crouched position, infront of Alex, ready to do his job.

At first the vampire was shocked, then a grin slowly formed on his lips. He ran at the new werewolf infront of him and punched him as hard as he could in the muzzle. He took two fistfulls of Ewan's fur and threw him a couple of feet into the trees.
Alex had recovered and was standing. She ran at the vampire, his back turned towards her. He heard her and turned around, aiming for a punch. Alex ducked but couldn't escape the hand that came from underneath, grabbing her tightly by the throat. He slammed her against the tree, squeezing her throat harder.
The breath was quickly sucked out of Alex as the vampire started to cut off her airway. She choked and gagged, trying to breathe. Small circles started to blur her vision and she had little time to act. She thrusted the steak into the vampire's chest blindly, not sure if it hit. Next second, the vampire let her go and fell to dust. She fell to the ground, hand to her throat, and gasped for air, coughing occasionally.

Ewan reappeared, in human form, and rushed to Alex's side. He placed one hand on her back and wrapped the other around her waist, ready to carry her back if needed. "Are you alright? Im so sorry. I should've paid more attention. I should've smelled him, im sorry..." Ewan wasn't sure what else to say. In his mind, he was the one to blame for the mishap. What if she thought that he wasnt worthy of being her protector? He wasnt very good at fighting the dark creatures....yet. "Are you alright?"

Alex coughed a couple more times and shook her head. "It's fine, it's not your fault. We both weren't paying attention." She stood up, brushing off her pants. She looked up at Ewan and smiled to reassure him that she was fine. "Is that really what a werewolf looks like? Just an oversized wolf? I always pictured something a little more like hairy man," she teased though she was telling the truth. She had seen way too many Hollywood movies.

"Well, they may have started out that way. I think the werewolf virus has evolved. Its changed over time, or so I hear. The stories are passed down." Ewan grabbed her arm and pulled her gently along. "We shouldnt be in one place too long. They'll smell him and come running. We might use that to our advantage later, but for now we dont want to get into too much trouble. You agree?"he said, his hand sliding down her arm and around her hand. For a few seconds he simply gazed and then noticed their hands. He let go quickly and pointed forward. "Shall we?"

Alex laughed and nodded. "Yeah come on. Maybe we'll find some more vamps." She said with enthusiasm. She didn't mind patrolling though most of the time it was boring. When she was fighting a vampire she always had so much fun and she liked it. She could beat the crap out of something and save many people's lives at the same time. She glanced at Ewan and smiled. He was nice, and entertaining. She was now actually excited about school on Monday.
