Alex was a fifteen year old girl, tall, and slender. She had dark brown hair, which was long, layered, and perfectly straight. She was like every other fifteen year old girl. Her parents were divorced and she lived with her father who was the new mayor of Sleepy Hollow. She loved boys and hated school, she had friends and enemies. The only difference was, she was the new slayer.
It was a shock at first, and she refused to be part of such a absurd lifestyle, but eventually she caved. Her watcher was young and fit, about twenty, and more skilled in fighting as well as research. The council needed better men to train the slayers seeing as more slayers were dieing than ever before.
Another surprise was that the new mayor wasn't evil. He knew about Alex's new 'calling' and helped the watcher in any way he could. He gave them full access to a gym in their home and he bought the watcher an apartment nearby so he could keep a good eye on Alex.
Every day of the week Alex had to train, except fridays. Three days a week they went to the public gym to train as a little something different. He made her do every machine from 3-5pm and on Saturdays it was 12-4pm. Sometimes they skipped training so she could do her homework and go out with her new friends but mostly it was patrolling and training.
She had just finished with their personal training. He was holding up a large padded square and she was punching it, practicing her fighting moves. On her last one, she accidently hit to hard and her watcher fell down. "Can I take a break now?!" She asked, exhausted.
Her watcher, Ryan, sighed. "Fine, ten minute break. Drink some water," He replied and threw Alex's water bottle into her outstretched hands after standing up. He also handed her a towel so she could wipe the sweat off her face.

Before he'd met Hunter, Ewan was a weakling. Even with werewolf blood running through his veins, he wasnt up to par. Hunter had him lifting weights everytime they werent hybrid training. Hunter hadnt fully explained the whole hybrid thing yet. All he said was that Ewan had that one special blood type that a hybrid needs. It had been a few hours of nonstop lifting when Ewan finally dropped the weights and took a break, panting. "Alright kid, youve got a few minutes and then we're off to go train some more." Ewan nodded and got up to go get his water bottle. He dabbed his forehead with a towel and took a quick swig of ice cold water. Just then he noticed a young girl, who looked totally beat. He gave a quick, friendly smile, not even sure if she saw it.

Alex had finished off her water when she noticed a guy smiling at her. She returned a sweet smile but heard footsteps behind her. "Come on Alex, back to work. Ten more minutes and then we're done. You need time to go home and change before patrol," Ryan said sternly.
"Awe seriously Ryan. I have homework," Alex pleaded, turning around to face her watcher. "Can't I skip tonight? I'll go on patrol two hours more tomorrow night, please?"
"No Alex, we had a deal. Plus I already know you have no homework. No I want you over on the mats in one minute or I'm increasing the time."
Alex rolled her eyes and followed Ryan over to the mats that were for yoga classes mostly. Ryan positioned himself across from Alex and got into a defensive stance. "Okay, lets see what you've got. If you can throw me down then you can be finished."
Alex's smile came back, she was good at knocking Ryan down. She came at him and she pretended to punch him, not actually wanting to hurt him. He got her in a headlock, his grip tight around her neck. He was pretty strong, expecially compared to the other watchers. Alex grabbed his arm and flung Ryan over her shoulder and down onto the mat. "Done," She said happily. It had only taken a couple of minutes.

Ewan didnt take his eyes off of the girl. He sat down, the weights in his hands, but he never lifted. He looked on as the girl threw her 'trainer' down on the mat within seconds. He couldnt help but smile and chuckle softly. 'Maybe you should go talk to her.....she may be important. Her trainer did say something about patrolling' he thought to himself. When she was done. He let go of the weights and walked back over to the water table. He noticed that her bottle was there. 'She'll have to come over, right?' He pretended to be looking at the random booklets.

"Alright, go. Meet me infront of the gates at ten, don't forget or you're going to pay next training session." Ryan said as he stood up, again. He went to go pack up his stuff and go home to change. He was exhausted, having to teach a fifteen year old how to fight evil creatures was a full time job, though he did work for her dad during the day.
Alex grumbled softly to herself and walked over to the water table to refill her water bottle. She noticed the same guy who had smiled at her but thought nothing of it. After unscrewing the top of her water bottle, she filling it with filtered water from the small water dispenser. She didn't bother to put the cap back on because she drank it all in a couple of minutes.

Even though he could tell he was older than her, he was still hesitant and a bit nervous to just say hello. 'You can do this. Just say hello. Whats the worst she can do? Blow you off? So what, right?' he thought. Ewan put down the gym booklets, turned to the girl and smiled. He lifted his hand and gave a small wave of his hand. "Hello. Im Ewan. Good job on the mat. That guy looked exhausted afterward."

Alex turned to Ewan and smiled. "Oh um thanks. Ryan isn't as tough as he looks. I'm Alex by the way. It's nice to meet you," She said in a sweet voice though she was panting slightly. "We've been training since three so I have to give him some credit." She glanced at Ryan who was sitting on a bench, chugging down water. She giggled softly, knowing that she had done most of the work. She would have to leave soon, she needed to get ready for the patrol, something she wasn't looking foward to.

Ewan nodded and listened to everything she had to say. He glanced over his shoulder at Ryan and laughed. "Poor guy." He turned to face Alex and hoped she wasnt gonna start hinting for him to go away. "Umm....do you go to school here? Im new and im not use to the town. My umm....guardian brought me from northern Canada." A thought came to mind. 'Maybe shes the slay-- no, she cant be. Shes so young' he thought.

"Yeah I go to the high school, though I'm just about as new as you. I moved here about two weeks ago. I was living with my mom in California until...well I just wanted to stay with my dad for a while." She had almost said that she was the slayer. She didn't want the guy to think she was crazy an lock her up. Yeah there were monsters but not many people knew about them, there were just a lot of crazy murders and disappearences in the town to them. Telling them him that there were vampires and demons was just absurd.

Ewan smiled and set his water bottle down on the table. "Well, thats good. I was hoping that maybe, um, you'd be my first friend. Im not going to school until Monday. Ive got business to deal with. But when I do go, its going to be intersting. I happen to know that the kids in this town arent very welcoming." Ewan breathed in her scent and let out a sigh. He tried to make it subtle, but her scent was amazing! Intoxicating! He quickly shoved the thought of her scent out of his mind and gave her a small smile. "So what do you say?"

Alex nodded. "Sure! Some of the kids are nice, it's like any other highschool, except this one has it's strange...quirks." She said, smiling. She could always use another friend and Ewan seemed nice enough. "What grade are you in?" She asked, doubting they were in the same grade but it would be nice to see when they could sit with each other.
"Alex!" Ryan called. "Don't forget, ten sharp."
Alex sighed and nodded unwillingly. "I know. Bye Ryan." She called back to him. She turned back to Ewan and shook her head. "Some people just aren't that trusting are they? He says that almost every single night." She hadn't thought that what she said sounded weird since Ryan was twenty and looked older.

"They're nice to normal kids," he said rolling his eyes. Immediatly after, he tried covering up what he'd said. "Im a junior. 17 years old and still here." He shrugged and looked over at Ryan as he left. "So, is he your brother or...boyfriend?" He looked older, but hey, it was possible.

"Neither, he's my wat--family friend. But he feels like an older brother, just as annoying as them." She said, glad she had covered up her little slip. Not that he would know what a watcher was, or so she thought. "I'm 15. I'm a sophmore. So are you here with anyone? Or do you usually come to gyms to scope out girls alone?" She asked, teasing him towards the end. She saw a couple of people there but not many, it was getting pretty late.

"Nah. Im here to build up some muscle. But if I did want to pick up girls at the gym, I would definetly be alone," he said jokingly. "Im here with a friend actually. Hunter. He's a native of Sleepy Hollow I guess. He use to live here. He's gonna move soon, but luckily, I get to stay." This was wonderful. An actual conversation had begun. He had a new friend. All he had to do now was figure out if she was a secret creature of sleepy hollow. "So I hear you go on patrol.....whats that for?" he asked curiously.

Alex's eyes widened a little when Ewan asked her about patrolling. She wasn't sure what he was now. He had asked in a nosey, sort of suspisious voice. "Is he one of the people Ryan told me about? A demon maybe? Oh man, think of a lie, quick!" She thought. "Oh it's nothing, just something for my dad. Oh geez, look at the time. I have to run, I'll see you Monday, bye! It was nice meeting you." She said and walked out of the gym quickly. She hadn't even glanced at the clock, she just needed to get out of there before Ewan asked any more questions.
She pulled out her phone and pressed '3' on her touch pad. It started to call Ryan after she hit the send button. "Hello?" Ryan said as he picked up his phone.
"Ryan, it's me. I have some bad news." She paused, and looked around, ducking into an alleyway next to the gym so if Ewan followed her she would be out of sight from the door, though she wasn't aware that he had super hearing and smell. "You saw that guy I was talking to right?"
"Yeah, what about him?"
"He heard you when you talked about patroling tonight. He asked what it was for, he's been asking questions about you and he said he saw me on the mat with you. I think he's suspisious that I might be a slayer. I don't know anything about him either. All he told me was that his name was Ewan, he came here from Canada, he's a junior, and he has a friend whose been living here for a while." She paused to hear his reaction and was surprised that he sounded so calm.
Ryan was worried, fearing that Ewan might be a demon or one of the many evil creatures that roamed Sleepy Hollow. "No human stays alive here for too long. At least we know he isn't a vampire, he didn't burn up in the sunlight that came through the window. Okay, go home as quickly as possible and I'll meet you at ten." After that he hung up.
